What an extremely busy week it has been. Please see photos of the Hall Fire, morning of Tuesday 28 June and the Celebration Afternoon, afternoon of Tuesday 28 June.
We had 6000 Cheese rolls made on the morning of Thursday 30 June, in the Library.
Mrs Mackenzie has had two days off, one for a course in Timaru on Te Reo, Wednesday, and an assessment day on Friday.
School Hall Fire
Whilst Room 1 and 2 were practicing their presentation for the open afternoon, someone noticed that there was smoke coming out of the switchboard on the stage. Children were quickly evacuated and the fire was put out by Mr Leverton.
The fire brigade was called and so was the ambulance. We all stood and watched on the other side of Brucefield Ave. The hall was saved with only a little bit of damage done to the back of the stage.
Mr Leverton was checked by the ambulance staff and was classified as ok.
The school children watching the fire men sucking out the smoke from the hall.
Thank you to Mrs Begg for taking these photos.
Celebration afternoon
After an exciting start to the day, we didn't think we could top it, but we did. We had an enjoyable afternoon, which began with a sausage sizzle lunch for everybody that was at school. We then had performances from Room 1 and 2 Choir accompanied by Mr Leverton and lead by Miss Cruickshank, Hip Hop, lead by Miss Cruickshank, and Kapahaka accompanied by Mrs Livingstone and lead by Mrs Mackenzie. Even though it was cold and the ground around the shade area soon turned to mud. We all enjoyed the performances. After that was finished we moved into our house groups and went onto our activities for the afternoon where the parents were expected to join in as well. See the photos of us all having fun.
Cheese Rolls
The children in Room 3 would like to thank all the people who were involved in making the 6000 cheese rolls and to the people who sold the cheese rolls.
We are not going to name people but you know who you are. So thank you very much from all of us.
