Westpac Helicopter Fundraiser

Wow we had a fantastic day on Friday.  We started the day with our coin trail and had a look at all the Wacky Hair designs.  I can not believe how lucky we are with all of our creative parents.  The hair designs were amazing.  After the coin trail we went back into the class room and our cup cakes were judged.  Congratulations to Kaveesha who won our classes competition, and to Corey who came a close 2nd.
Later on in the day we had a sausage sizzle for lunch.  Thank you to all of the people who supported our sausage sizzle, the line has not been that long for ages.

To support the day Room 3 painted helicopter pictures and published stories on the computer about why we support The Westpac Helicopter Foundation.  Come and have a look at our fantastic work.

Alan Duff's Visit

Alan Duff was a welcome visitor to our school.  We started with a Haka powhiri and then Mr Duff got to speak to us about being an author and how important it is to learn to read.  He even gave 13 books to different children who asked really good questions.  Mr Duff was the founder of Duffy books, and as you are aware we all love our Duffy books. Presently he is living in France and has just finished his latest book, which unfortunately I have forgotten the name of.

Welcome to Term 2

Wow...... Can you believe it is week 2 already?
We have begun the term well with block running and are looking forward to the Chertsey Cross Country next Tuesday 17th May 2011.

We have new homework this term.  Each week your child will be given a homework sheet on a Tuesday and they must complete and return it the following Monday.

The homework consists of Topic spelling words, an Art activity, Math activities, Reading and Spelling each night.  There also might be a language activity or a project to undertake.
You need to sign your child's homework sheet if you believe that they have put in their best effort.

Our Topic this term is Acting Up.  Each class will put on a mini production during their assembly time.  I will let you know closer to the time if assistance is required.

For art we are looking at making puppets.  If you know of anyone that has spare fabric that we could use, then please let me know.
